Career counseling and guidance as a tool to support employability

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Kariérní poradenství jako nástroj podpory zaměstnatelnosti“ se skládá ze tří stěžejních částí. V první, teoretické části, se věnuje nejprve změnám ve společnosti a s nimi spojenými změnami na trhu práce. Poté se zabývá konceptem zaměstnatelnosti a jeho jednotlivými složkami – sociálním a lidským kapitálem, adaptabilitou a flexibilitou a kariérní identitou. Také zmiňuje tzv. kontextuální složku, kterou utváří externí faktory ovlivňující trh práce. Následně představuje službu kariérního poradenství, její přínosy, jednotlivé subjekty, které službu poskytují a také diskuzi o stavu kariérního poradenství v České republice i ve světě. V metodologické části definuje hlavní výzkumnou otázku, dílčí výzkumné otázky a popisuje realizaci výzkumu ve vybrané organizaci, která poskytuje kariérní poradenství. Empirická část práce věnuje analýze dat získaných na základě provedení sedmi polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s kariérními poradci, čímž je schopna v závěru zodpovědět hlavní výzkumnou otázku.

Abstract:

The thesis entitled „Career counseling and guidance as a tool to support employability“ consists of three main parts. In the first, theoretical part, it is devoted to describing social changes that are accompanied by the changes in a labour market. Then, it concerns the concept of employability and its particular components, i.e. social and human capital, adaptability and flexibility and career identity. It also refers to a so-called contextual component which is formed by the external factors influencing labour market. Subsequently, it introduces the service of career consulting, stressing its merits, the entities that provide the service and the discussion about the state of career consulting in the Czech Republic and around the world. In the methodological section, it defines the main research question, partial research questions and then describes how the research was carried out in a selected organisation which provides career consulting. In the empirical section, the thesis includes an analysis of data obtained from semi-structured interviews with seven consultants. This leads to answering the main research question.
