Self-reflection of the Underground: Literary Testimony of the Czech Underground Generation of the Late 20th Century

Anotácia:

Předmětem diplomové práce je analýza a interpretace vybraných beletristických próz autorů z okruhu českého undergroundu 2. poloviny 20. století. Cílem práce je prokázat dokumentární charakter této tvorby ve vztahu k undergroundu. Práce je rozdělena na část teoretickou a praktickou. Teoretická část se věnuje undergroundu coby kulturnímu, uměleckému, společenskému a historickému fenoménu. Praktická část sestává z analýzy čtyř prozaických děl – románů Invalidní sourozenci Egona Bondyho a …a bude hůř Jana Pelce, novely Medorek Petra Placáka a povídkového souboru Život na Kdysissippi Milana Kozelky. Na základě interpretace a analýzy jednotlivých děl je v závěru práce provedena diferenciace próz podle převažujících postupů využívaných při reflektování undergroundu.

Abstract:

The subject of this master's thesis is to analyse and interpret four fictional prose works written by authors, who belonged to the Czech underground culture in the second half of the 20th century, and to prove documentary character of these books in relation to the Czech underground. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and analytical. In the theoretical part of this work, there are described cultural, artistic, social and historical aspects of the underground phenomenon. The analytical part of the thesis is composed of an analysis of novels Invalidní sourozenci (Egon Bondy) and …a bude hůř (Jan Pelc), short story Medorek (Petr Placák) and short story collection Život na Kdysissippi (Milan Kozelka). Eventually, there is made a differentiation of the prose works mentioned according to the dominant strategies used to reflect the Czech underground.
