Art therapy and its relationship to psychology of art

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá různými aspekty vzájemného vztahu psychologie a výtvarného umění, tedy především arteterapií , fenoménem art brut a psychopatologií výtvarného projevu. Na tyto klíčové oblasti je pohlíženo jako na stěžejní styčné body jmenovaných oblastí lidské činnosti. Všechny tyto oblasti stojí bezesporu na základech psychologie i výtvarného umění, role těchto disciplín se v nich ale výrazně liší. Charakteristika těchto vzájemných vztahů je tedy předmětem teoretické části práce. Vzhledem k okolnostem jejího vzniku je problematika zpracována z psychologického hlediska, byť se stále pohybujeme na hranici vědy a umění. Tento způsob pohledu je zdůrazněn v posledních kapitolách teoretické části, které popisují schizofrenní onemocnění a jeho projevy ve výtvarném projevu pacientů. Zmíněná část práce je zároveň úvodem do části empirické, jež se zabývá kvalitativní analýzou vzorku děl pacientů s dg. paranoidní schizofrenie, porovnává jejich charakteristické rysy se znaky uváděnými literaturou a poukazuje na některá specifika arteterapeutického procesu u těchto pacientů.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with various aspects of the relationship of the psychology and art, especially with art therapy, art brut phenomenon and psychopathology of artistic expression. These crucial areas are seen as key contact points of areas of human activities stated above . All of these areas undoubtedly arises both from psychology and art, however the role of these disciplines in them significantly differs. Characteristics of these interactions is thus the subject of the theoretical part. Regarding the circumstances of the thesis purpose the issue is approached with psychological point of view, but we still interfere in art. Psychological point of view is emphasized in the last chapters of the theoretical part, which describe the schizophrenic disease and its manifestation in artistic expression. This part is also an introduction to the empirical one, which deals with the qualitative analysis of art works originating from patients diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia . Its characteristics are compared with attributes mentioned in the literature and some significant traits of art therapy process with these patients are described in the empirical part.
