Resilience of British rural regions

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá odolností britských venkovských regionů v závislosti na externí šok, kterým v tomhle případě byla globální ekonomické krize. Koncept regionální odolnosti se dostal do středu zájmu pro řadu vědců z řad ekonomických geografů. Hlavním stimulem pro navýšení zájmu o koncept regionální odolnosti byla globální ekonomická krize, která postihla řadu zemí. Práce je zaměřena na teorii regionální odolnosti a následné analýze britských venkovských regionů k nalezení odpovědí na výzkumné otázky této práce. Zaměření této práce je právě na britské venkovské regiony a jakým způsobem byly schopny odolávat vnějšímu narušení. Základním kvantitativním ukazatelem regionální odolnosti je míra nezaměstnanosti v britských venkovských regionech. Právě vývoj míry nezaměstnanosti a vzájemná závislost na vybraných faktorech je středem výzkumu této práce.

Abstract:

The main interest of this bachelor's thesis is how resilient the British rural regions are towards to an external shock, in this case the global economic crisis. The concept of regional resilience become the centre of interest for a number of economic geographers. The main stimulus in the increase of interest in the concept of resilience was the global economic crisis that affected an extensive amount of countries. This thesis is focused on the theory of regional resilience and the subsequent analysis of the British rural regions to find the answers to the research questions. British rural regoins are the main aim of this thesis together with the ability of the regions to resist an external disturbance. The basic quantitative indicator of the regional resilience is the unemploynment rate in British rural regions. The progression of the unemployment and the reciprocal dependence on selected factors is the main focus of this thesis' research.
