The position and role of a man in childbirth

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá postavením a rolí muže u porodu. Cílem šetření je zjistit, jak muži prožívají porod. Zabývá se novými situacemi, které moderní doba přináší pro nové otce, a jejich postojem a zážitky v těchto nových rolích. Práce je strukturována do teoretické a praktické části. Teoretická část poskytuje nejen přehled historického vývoje, ale také rovněž novodobý pohled na přítomnost muže u porodu. Dále se zaměřujeme na přípravu partnera během těhotenství a následně zapojení do procesu porodu v rámci jejich vnímání a adaptace na tuto novou životní roli. V neposlední řadě se zabýváme pohledem odborníků a na konci práce se velmi okrajově opíráme o duševní zdraví. Tato část je podložena odbornou literaturou a články. Praktická část navazuje na teoretickou a je provedena formou kvalitativního výzkumu za pomoci polostrukturovaného rozhovoru s jedním manželským párem. Výsledky výzkumu potvrdily pozitivní vliv zapojení partnera do procesu těhotenství a porodu. Kromě toho bylo zjištěno mnoho hodnotných a pozitivních vlivů, které nejen působily na psychiku ženy a zanechaly v ní velmi obohacující zážitek, ale také vedly k prohloubení vztahu mezi partnery a vzniku významného otcovského pouta mezi otcem a novorozencem.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the position and role of the man in childbirth. The aim of the investigation is to find out how men experience childbirth. It looks at the new situations that modern times bring for new fathers and their attitudes and experiences in these new roles. The thesis is structured into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part provides not only an overview of historical developments, but also a modern perspective on the male presence at birth. Furthermore, the focus is on the preparation of the partner during pregnancy and subsequent involvement in the birth process in terms of their perception and adaptation to this new life role. Last but not least, we consider the perspective of professionals and make a very marginal reference to mental health at the end of the paper. This section is supported by literature and articles. The practical part follows the theoretical part and is conducted in the form of qualitative research using semistructured interviews with one married couple. The main results of the research confirmed the positive influence of the partner's involvement in the process of pregnancy and childbirth, as well as many valuable and positive influences not only for the partner and the child, but also for the men themselves.
