Práce se zabývá veřejným osvětlením a s ním souvisejícím světelným znečištěním, přičemž je důraz kladen především na kulturní význam těchto jevů. Úvodní část práce se věnuje definici pojmu světelného znečištění a jeho zakotvení v právu. Dále se zabývá obrazovou reprezentací světla a světelného znečištění v historii.
