Depiction of the burning of Ploština in the film version of the novel "Death Is Called Engelchen"

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá zobrazením vypálení valašské pasekářské osady Ploština v dubnu 1945 ve filmu Smrt si říká Engelchen. První část diplomové práce se věnuje popisu samotné události, který vychází z dostupných archivních pramenů a literatury. Součástí je také zmapování působení partyzánů v okolí Ploštiny a přilehlých hor. V další části je ve zkratce popsán a analyzován film Smrt si říká Engelchen, součástí je také srovnání s literární předlohou. Jádro diplomové práce pak tvoří porovnání skutečných událostí s filmovým zpracováním s ohledem na dobu jeho vzniku, která mohla tendenčně ovlivnit pohled na celou tragickou událost. Následně je popsáno vnímání Národního kulturního památníku Ploština v době před rokem 1989 a dnes. V závěru jsou poté uvedena vybraná místa odkazující na působení partyzánů v okolí Ploštiny.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the depiction of the burning of the Wallachian settlement Ploština in April 1945 in the film Death Is Called Engelchen. The first part of the thesis is narrated the description of the incident, it is based on available archival sources and literature. It also includes a mapping of the guerrillas in the vicinity of Ploština and the adjacent mountains. The next part briefly describes and analyzes the film Death Is Called Engelchen, which includes comparisons with a novel of the same name. The core of the thesis is a comparison of real incident with film with regard to the time of its origin, which could influence the view of the whole tragedy. Subsequently, the perception of the National Cultural Monument Ploština in the period before 1989 and today is described. In the end, there are then selected places referring to the activities of guerrilla in the vicinity of Ploština.
