Carbohydrates in the diet of preschool children

Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Sacharidy ve výživě dětí předškolního věku“ shrnuje současné poznatky o příjmu sacharidů u dětí ve věku 3-6 let. Teoretická část pojednává především o příjmu složených i jednoduchých sacharidů, o složení stravy a stravovacích návycích, ale i o samotné osobnosti předškolního dítěte. Podrobně se zabývá také metabolismem sacharidů a vrozenými poruchami metabolismu. V závěru teoretické části je řešena problematika denních doporučených dávek a vliv sacharidů na zdraví. V praktické části jsou statisticky vyhodnocena data z dotazníků a dvoudenních recallů získaná od předškolních dětí. Cílem bylo zmapovat příjem celkových sacharidů, ale i cukrů a vlákniny a následně porovnat, zda je příjem v souladu s doporučenými dávkami. Záměrem také bylo odhalit faktory, které mohou ovlivnit množství přijatých sacharidů.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis "Carbohydrates in the diet of preschool children" summarizes present knowledge about carbohydrate intake in children aged 3-6. The theoretical part deals primarily with the intake of complex and simple carbohydrates, with the composition of the diet and eating habits, but also with the personality of preschool children. In detail, it also deals with the metabolism of carbohydrates and metabolic disorders. At the end of the theoretical part the issues of daily recommended dose and the effect of carbohydrates on health are solved. In the practical part data from questionnaires and a two-day 24-h recall obtained from preschool children are statistically evaluated. The aim of this thesis was to conduct a survey of the total carbohydrate intake, as well as the intake of sugar and fiber, and then determine whether the intake is in accordance with recommended doses. The research also focused on determining the factors on which the intakes depends (age, gender, the parent's level of education etc.).
