From monster to human. Trolls in 19th century Norwegian literature.

Abstract:

In Norwegian literature, the troll is one of the most mentioned supernatural characters. But his description has no clear boundaries. From book to book, he appears before us in a new form. However, there is a certain pattern to this. Probably, the troll as a literary character developed. In other words, it can be called the evolution of a literary character. The purpose of this work is to define the troll as a literary character and its development within the framework of Norwegian literature. Research is limited to the 19th century, because in this period the troll went through all the main stages of evolution.

Abstract:

V norské literatuře je troll jednou z nejčastěji zmiňovaných nadpřirozených postav. Jeho popis ale nemá jasné hranice. Od knihy ke knize se před námi objevuje v nové podobě. Existuje v tom však určitý vzorec. Pravděpodobně, že se troll jako literární postava vyvinul. Jinými slovy to lze nazvat evolucí literární postavy. Cílem tohoto díla je definovat trolla jako literární postavu a jeho vývoj v rámci norské literatury. Výzkum je omezen na 19. století, protože v tomto období troll prošel všemi hlavními fázemi evoluce.
