The impact of labor market rigidity on unemployment in V4 countries

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou rigidity trhu práce a jejího vlivu na míru nezaměstnanosti v zemích Visegrádské čtyřky. Regulace na trhu práce sloužící k ochraně zaměstnanců i zaměstnavatelů jsou ale někdy až příliš rozsáhlé a přísné a znemožňují firmám rychlou adaptaci na aktuální situaci na trhu. V práci je vypočítán index rigidity zaměstnanosti v zemích V4 a také je zde obsažena analýza nezaměstnanosti ve všech čtyřech zemí. Z toho je vyvozen vztah těchto dvou veličin. Spojení výpočtu indexu rigidity a analýzy míry nezaměstnanosti potvrdilo, že vzájemný vztah nezaměstnanost a rigidity pravděpodobně existuje a čím je trh práce strnulejší, tím vyšší je v zemi nezaměstnanost. V poslední části práce jsou zhodnocena doporučení Evropského semestru a navržena vlastní doporučení, která by mohla pomoci trh práce zpružnit.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with analysis of the labor market rigidity and its influence on unemployment rate in Visegrad Four countries. Regulations on labor market should protect employees and employers but sometimes the regulations are too extensive and strict and it makes companies less adaptable to the current market situation. In the thesis, the index of rigidity is calculated and it contains an analysis of unemployment in V4 countries. The relationship between these two quantities is derived from this. After connecting index of rigidity calculation and analysis of unemployment rate, it has been confirmed that the relationship between unemployment and rigidity probably exists and that more rigid labor market means higher unemployment. In the last part of work, the recommendations of the European Semester are evaluated and own recommendations are propsed, which could help make the labor market more flexbile.
