Methodology for the implementation of critical thinking using LLM in the teaching of computer science at a four-year high school

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce analyzuje a rozvíjí postupy kritického myšlení a hledá ty nové možnosti jejich aplikace, jež přináší využití velkých jazykových modelů v edukačním procesu. Dochází k definování tzv. "rolí užití jazykových modelů" aplikovatelných na výuku informatiky se současným rozvojem kritického myšlení. To vše v souladu s aktuálním Rámcovým vzdělávacím programem. Teoretická část práce vymezuje význam kritického myšlení a jeho souhru se vzdělávacími rolemi, které nové jazykové modely mohou sehrát ve výuce 21. století. Zároveň se soustředí na konkrétní aspekty spojující tyto dva prvky do jednoho koherentního rámce. Praktická část přináší podrobný metodologický pohled na implementaci teoretických východisek do pedagogické praxe čtyřletého gymnázia. Pracovní listy vyvinuté pro tuto práci slouží jako konkrétní ukázka, jak efektivně integrovat kritické myšlení a jazykové modely do výukového plánu. Doufáme, že naše výsledky mají potenciál obohatit edukační proces a přispět k rozvoji kritického myšlení studentů v digitálním věku.

Abstract:

This thesis analyses and develops critical thinking practices and looks for new possibilities of their application, which are brought by the use of large language models in the educational process. It arrives at the definition of the so-called "roles of the use of language models" applicable to the teaching of computer science with the simultaneous development of critical thinking. All this is in line with the current Framework Educational Programme. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the importance of critical thinking and its interplay with the educational roles that large language models can play in 21st century education. At the same time, it focuses on specific aspects that combine these two elements into one coherent framework. The practical part provides a detailed methodological perspective on the implementation of the theoretical foundations into the pedagogical practice of a four-year high school. The worksheets developed for this thesis serve as concrete examples of how to effectively integrate critical thinking and language models into the curriculum of ICT. We hope that our results have the potential to enrich the educational process and contribute to the development of students' critical thinking in the digital age.
