Abstract:

Diplomová práce “Česká hudba jako součást hudební kultury Severní a Jižní Ameriky (1678 – 1953)“ pojednává o téměř třech staletích trvajícího vlivu české hudby na velmi specifickou a v Evropě téměř neznámou hudbu Amerického kontinentu. V textu je v hlavních obrysech zachycen vývoj hudebního života ve Spojených státech od poloviny 17. století až do období po skončení II. světové války. Hlavní pozornost je zaměřena na působení a hostování jak známých, tak i téměř zapomenutých českých skladatelů a představitelů reprodukčního umění v Novém světě a jejich nemalý vliv na tamější hudební kulturu, na americké hudební dění.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis “Czech Music as a Part of the Musical Culture of North and South America (1678 – 1953)” deals with nearly three centuries of influence of Czech music on specific music from the American continent that is almost unknown in Europe. The text describes the development of musical life in the United States from the second half of the 17th century until the period after the end of World War II. The main focus is on both famous and almost forgotten Czech composers and performers of reproduction art in the New World, and their considerable influence on local musical culture and on American musical events.
