Attitudes and perspectives of Roma in marginalized areas - Usti Region and South Bohemian Region

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o životních postojích a perspektivách Romů v sociálně vyloučených lokalitách. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 10 respondentů, kteří v sociálně vyloučených lokalitách žijí, dále pak ti, kteří v ní žili nebo žijí, ale zaujímají relativně vyšší sociální postavení. Práce se snažila zjistit, do jaké míry se liší nebo shodují postoje a perspektivy těchto respondentů, zda existují nějaké rozdíly mezi Romy, kteří ve výzkumu zastupují starší generaci a mladší generaci a mezi Romy žijícími v Ústeckém a Jihočeském kraji. Výzkumnými otázkami práce pak byly, jaké postoje mají Romové k majoritní společnosti a především jak Romové vnímají vlastní šance v ní uspět. Práce se nesnažila podat komplexní obraz životní situace Romů, jedná se spíše o sondu do života konkrétních respondentů.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the attitudes and perspectives of Roma people living in the socially excluded localities. Research was attended by 10 respondents living in the socially excluded localities, as well as those who live or lived there, but have a relatively higher social position. This thesis tries to find out to what extent attitudes and perspectives of these respondents are different or identical, whether there are any differences between the Roma, who represent the older generation of research and the younger generation and among the Roma living in the Usti Region and South Bohemian Region. The research question is concerned with attitudes of Roma people to majority society and particularly with Roma perception of their own chances to succeed in majority society.
