Práce pojednává o vzniku, vývoji i současných problémech Aliance, coby systému kolektivní sebeobrany v rámci kolektivní bezpečnosti OSN. Autor uvádí východiska vziniku Aliance, její postupný rozvoj, přehled operací a výčet aktuálních hrozeb, přičemž vše zmíněné zařazuje do souvislostí.
