Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá využíváním techniky vymývání mozku jako jedním z hlavních témat dystopické literatury dvacátého století. Zaměřuje se na tematickou analýzu tří dystopických románů, a to Báječný nový svět Aldouse Huxleyho, 1984 George Orwella a Mechanický pomeranč Anthonyho Burgesse. Pozornost věnuje zejména osobitému způsobu zpracování tématu vymývání mozku těmito třemi autory. Diplomová práce se také snaží nastínit, zda se predikce těchto autorů shodují s realitou současné společnosti a jak jsou techniky manipulace mysli využívány na počátku 21. století.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with brainwashing as an influence technique used as one of the crucial themes in the twentieth century dystopian literature. It focuses on thematic analysis of three dystopian novels, Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, and Anthony Burgess's A Clockwork Orange, with particular attention to distinct treatment of the theme of brainwashing by the three authors. The thesis also endeavours to outline whether the authors' predictions match the reality of the contemporary society and how mind control techniques are employed in the beginning of the twenty-first century.
