Integration of the distributed cache module within the Kentico platform

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je navrhnout a implementovat vlastní modul umožňující integraci technologie distribuované cache paměti do produktu Kentico Xperience. V první části je představen koncept webového cachování a jsou porovnány přístupy lokální a distribuované cache. V následující části představuji způsoby, jak jsou tyto přístupy realizovatelné v prostředí ASP.NET. Dále popisuji existující mechanismy cachování v prostředí Kentico Xperience. Na základě stanovených požadavků na vznikající modul je provedena analýza a srovnání tří systémů distribuované cache: Memcached, Redis a Hazelcast. V závěrečné části práce provádím čtenáře procesem návrhu a implementace vlastního modulu.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to design and implement a custom module enabling the integration of distributed cache technology into the Kentico Xperience. The first part introduces the concept of web caching and compares local and distributed cache approaches. The subsequent section presents ways in which these approaches can be implemented in the ASP.NET environment. Furthermore, existing caching mechanisms in the Kentico Xperience environment are described. Based on the defined requirements for the emerging module, an analysis and comparison of three distributed cache systems—Memcached, Redis, and Hazelcast—are conducted. In the final part of the thesis, the reader is guided through the process of designing and implementing the custom module.
