Transformations of the Prague Quadriennale: The transformations and shifts of the ways and methods of theatre set design exhibiting, focusing mostly on years 2007, 20111 and 2015

Abstract:

Proměny Pražského Quadriennale: Proměny a posuny způsobů vystavování scénografie se zaměřením na ročníky 2007, 2011 a 2015 Předkládaná práce se zabývá současnými způsoby vystavování scénografie během Pražského Quadriennale scénografie a divadelního prostoru (dále PQ), celosvětové výstavy pořádané poprvé v roce 1967 a od té doby konané v Praze každé čtyři roky. Charakterizací změn v pojímání scénografie od dob založení PQ a analýzou vybraných expozic je cílem vyzkoumat, jak jsou současné scénografické výstavní formy konstruovány a v čem se liší oproti původním výstavním formám PQ. Práce se tedy zabývá otázkou „co“ a „jak“ je dnes na PQ vystavováno, a to optikou vybraných expozic a projektů z ročníků 2007, 2011 a 2015.

Abstract:

Prague Quadrennial in Transformation: Changes and shifts in ways and methods of exhibiting scenography, focusing mostly on years 2007, 20111 and 2015 The diploma thesis deals with the contemporary ways of exhibiting scenography during the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space - the largest scenography event in the world that has been held in Prague once in four years since 1967. The aim of this work is to explore how the contemporary exhibitions are constructed. This aim will be researched through the characterization of the shift in approach to a “scenography” from the beginning of PQ and through the analysis of chosen expositions. In addition, the aim is also to discover the differences of those forms in the contrary to the original ones. In this way, the diploma thesis focuses on “what” and “how” is exhibited during the last three editions of PQ: PQ 2007, PQ 2011 and PQ 2015.
