Specifics of the management of a hotel up to 50 rooms.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou specifik řízení hotelu o velikosti do 50 pokojů. Cílem práce je popsat specifika řízení hotelu z pohledu širšího záběru odpovědností a činností jednotlivých manažerů a navrhnout optimální řídící strukturu včetně definovaných činností. Práce je rozčleněna do tří základních částí. První část obecně popisuje teoretický základ potřebný pro tuto práci. Nastiňuje, co vůbec pojem hotel znamená, jaké jsou druhy a jak se hotely klasifikují. Dále popisuje management, jeho úrovně, profil manažera a jeho funkce a kompetence. V neposlední řadě se také soustřeďuje na organizaci a organizační struktury obecně s návazností na organizaci a řízení hotelu. Druhou částí práce je část analytická, která se již zabývá konkrétní problematikou. K jejímu řešení byla použita metoda kvalitativního výzkumu, konkrétněji polostrukturované rozhovory s manažery, řediteli a spolumajiteli hotelů s kapacitou do 50 pokojů. Celkem rozhovory poskytlo 12 aktérů. Na základě přepisů těchto rozhovorů byly pro analýzu využity metody kódování, interpretace a selektivní transkripce. Na základě dat zjištěných výzkumem, byla vypracována poslední část práce, část návrhová. Zde je možné najít shrnutí výsledků a konkrétní návrhy řešení. Výzkumem bylo zjištěno, že hlavním specifikem řízení malého hotelu je počet pracovníků a prolínání pracovních pozic. Bylo zjištěno, že struktura zkoumaných hotelů je poměrně dost proměnlivá, a proto se došlo k závěru, že optimální organizační struktura hotelu o velikosti do 50 pokojů se dá sestavit pouze v základním měřítku tak, aby mohla být hotely nadále rozvíjena a přizpůsobována jejich konkrétním požadavkům. Dále byl vyhotoven přehled činností a odpovědností manažerů pro případ, že by tato organizační struktura byla reálně používána.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis addresses the specifics of managing a hotel up to 50 rooms. The aim of the thesis is to describe the specifics of hotel management in terms of the broader responsibilities and activities of individual managers and to propose an optimal management structure including defined activities. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part describes in general terms the theoretical basis needed for this thesis. It outlines what the term hotel even means, what are the types and how hotels are classified. It also describes management, its levels, the profile of the manager and his functions and competencies. Last but not least, it also focuses on Organization and organizational structures in general with reference to hotel organization and management. The second part of the thesis is the analytical part, which already deals with specific issues. To address it, a qualitative research method was used, more specifically semi-structured interviews with managers, directors and co-owners of hotels with a capacity of up to 50 rooms, a total of 12 actors were interviewed. Based on the transcripts of these interviews, coding, interpretation and selective transcription methods were used for analysis. Based on the data collected through the research, the suggestion part, was developed. Here one can find a summary of the results and specific suggestions for solutions. The research found that the main specificity of small hotel management is the number of employees and the overlapping of job positions. It was found that the structure of the studied hotels is quite variable, and therefore it was concluded that the optimal organizational structure of a hotel of up to 50 rooms can only be constructed ona basic scale so that it can be further developed and adapted by the hotels to their specific requirements. Furthermore, an overview of the activities and responsibilities of the managers was drawn up in case this organisational structure would be realistically used.
