Mapping of the process of introduction of the new employees at Masaryk University to the IT services needed

Abstract:

The Diploma thesis deals with mapping the process of introduction of the new employees at Masaryk University to the IT services needed. The goal of the thesis is to define problematic areas in the current state of the process and, by means of that, to help improve it. In the theoretical part, the thesis provides definitions of the key concepts, such as the onboarding process itself, onboarding as a service, service design and experience. In the application part, the problems in the current state of the process of introduction of the new employees to the IT services needed are defined based on two parts of research with two different stakeholders. Both parts of research are qualitative and the methods used are online focus group and interview. The thesis follows the service design methodological framework Double Diamond. More specifically, it covers mainly the first one of the diamonds. Based on the synthesis of all the collected data, the outcome of the thesis is the definition of the problematic areas uncovered in both parts of the research. Moreover, the opportunities for future improvement and discrepancies between the current state of the process and the good practices in onboarding are formulated, and the options for the following steps are suggested, all with the goal to improve the examined part of the onboarding process based on the data collected during thesis research.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa venuje mapovaniu procesu zoznámenia nových zamestnancov Masarykovej univerzity s potrebnými IT službami. Cieľom práce je definovať problematické miesta v súčasnom procese a pomôcť tak k jeho zlepšeniu a zefektívneniu. V teoretickej časti sa práca venuje definícii kľúčových konceptov, ako sú proces onboardingu, vnímanie onboardingu ako služby, dizajn služieb a zážitok. V aplikačnej časti sú potom na základe dvoch výskumov s dvomi zainteresovanými stranami definované problémy v súčasnom procese zoznamovania nových zamestnancov s potrebnými IT službami. Oba výskumy sú kvalitatívne a ich metódy sú online focus group a rozhovor. Práca postupuje podľa metodologického rámca dizajnu služieb Double Diamond, konkrétne primárne prechádza prvým z dvoch diamantov. Na základe syntézy dát z výskumov sú výstupom práce definované problematické body vyplývajúce z oboch výskumov. Sú tiež sformulované príležitosti k ich zlepšeniu, diskrepancie medzi súčasným stavom procesu a dobrou praxou v oblasti onboardingu a sú pomenované možnosti ďalšieho nadviazania na prácu s cieľom vylepšiť skúmanú časť onboardingového procesu na základe dát získaných v tejto práci.
