Detection of financial frauds using textual analysis of annual reports

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce "Detekce finančních podvodů na základě analýzy textu výročních zpráv" je aplikace vybraných ukazatelů finanční analýzy a aplikace analýzy textu na vzorek podvodných a nepodvodných firem. Cílem práce je najít statisticky významné ukazatele ve finanční a textové analýze, které indikují manipulaci s účetními daty. Práce je dělena na část, kde jsou popsány a vysvětleny ukazatele a techniky, používané při detekci finančních podvodů. V další části jsou tyto ukazatele vypočteny pro podniky označené jako podvodné na portálu U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission a další nepodvodné podniky.

Abstract:

The subject of the thesis "Detection of Financial Fraud Based on Analysis of the Text of Annual Reports" is the application of selected indicators of financial analysis and application of text analysis to a sample of fraudulent and non-fraudulent companies. The aim of the thesis is to find statistically significant indicators in financial and textual analysis that indicate the manipulation of accounting data. The thesis is divided into thel part, where the indicators and techniques used in the detection of financial fraud are described and explained. The next part is based on calculations of these indicator for both the enterprises labelled as fraudulent by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and other non-fraudulent enterprises.
