Policy against Extremism in the Czech Republic: Possible Measures and their Implementation in Practice

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je analyzovat politiku proti extremismu v České republice, zejména se zaměřením na pravicový extremismus. Práce se bude nejprve na teoretické rovině zabývat možnými opatřeními proti extremismu. Pozornost bude kladena na různé metody boje, zejména na protiextremistická legislativní opatření, otázky vzdělávání společnosti apod. V teoretické části se dále práce zaměří na vymezení pojmu obrana demokracie, jaké prvky obrany lze v tomto případě použít, popřípadě jakou roli zde hraje prevence a předcházení extremistického chování a jednání. Teoretické základy budou v další části práce aplikovány na případ České republiky v období po jejím vzniku v roce 1993 až do současnosti. Bude analyzováno, která opatření, jak a s jakou účinností Česká republika v boji proti pravicovému extremismu používá. Práce bude mít též institucionální rovinu, tj. bude analyzováno, které instituce jsou za protiextremistickou politiku odpovědné a jakým způsobem svou činnost provádějí. Bakalářská práce vychází metodologicky z komparativního přístupu, provádí analýzu případové studie (tj. České republiky). Postupuje deduktivně, tj. aplikuje teorie na konkrétní příklad.Klíčová slova: pravicový extremismus, protiextremistická opatření, Česká republika, legislativa, státní a nestátní instituce.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to analyse politics against extremism in the Czech Republic, especially with the specialization on the right-wing extremism. At first the work will be focused on the possible measures against the extremism in the theoretical level. The attention will insist on various methods of fighting (action), especially on the lefislative measures against extremism, the educational issues of the society and others. In the theoretical part, the work will be focused on the determination of the conception „defence of democracy“, which elements of the defence can be used, eventually which role does the prevention of the extremist behaviour and the action play here.The theoretical principles will be applied in the next part of this work on the case of the Czech Republic in the term from its formation in 1993 until present. It will be analysed, which measures, in which way and with what effects does the Czech Republic use them in the struggle against the extremism. This work will also have the institutional level, which means that it will be analysed, which institutions are responsible for the politics against extremism in the Czech Republic and how effectively do they use it.This bachelor thesis is methodologically based on the comparative approach. It carries out the analysis of the case study (i. e. the Czech Republic). It proceeds deductively, i. e. it applies the theories to a concrete example.Key words: right-wing extremism, measures against the extremism, the Czech Republic, legislation, state and non-state institutions.
