Fathers´ Role in Raising School-Age Children

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na role otců ve výchově dětí mladšího školního věku. Cílem práce bylo zjistit, jakými rolemi se otcové vyznačují v životě dítěte na 1. stupni ZŠ. Teoretická část práce se zabývá představením základních pojmů souvisejících s otcovským zapojením a specifiky výchovy dětí ve zmiňovaném období. Praktická část práce představuje výsledky výzkumného šetření, při kterém byla použita metoda polostrukturovaného interviewu u osmi otců. Provedeným výzkumem bylo zjištěno, že se otcové charakterizují především rolí živitele. Další významné role, které otcové zastupují jsou vychovatel, učitel a zástupce. Tato práce přispívá k hlubšímu porozumění roli otců ve výchově dětí mladšího školního věku a zdůrazňuje význam jejich aktivní účasti v procesu výchovy a vzdělávání dětí.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on the role of fathers in the upbringing of young school-age children. The aim of the thesis was to find out what roles fathers play in the life of a child in primary school. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the introduction of basic concepts related to father's involvement and specifics of child rearing in the mentioned period. The practical part of the thesis presents the results of the research investigation, in which the method of semi-structured interview was used with eight fathers. Through the research it was found that fathers characterize themselves mainly by the role of breadwinner. Other significant roles that fathers represent are educator, teacher and deputy. This work contributes to a deeper understanding of the role of fathers in the education of young school-age children and highlights the importance of their active participation in the process of raising and educating their children.
