IT asset management: Improvement of internal IT service processes and reporting

Abstract:

S využitím postupu IT asset management z metodiky ITIL 4 zúženým na HW a klientská aktiva autor identifikoval ve společnosti W.A.G. payment solutions, a.s. dva procesy a analytické řešení vhodné pro zlepšení. Jednalo se o procesy řešící situaci poškozeného zařízení zaměstnancem a situaci, kdy zaměstnanec odkupuje zařízení od firmy. Druhou oblastí bylo zlepšení analytického řešení nad asset managementem používaným k evidenci HW. Veškeré kompetence spojené se zlepšovanými oblastmi se v rámci IT služeb společnosti nacházejí na L1, na kterém je autor zaměstnán. Cílem práce je zlepšení fungování interních IT služeb ve firmě W.A.G. payment solutions, a.s. dle postupu IT asset management definovaném v metodice ITIL 4. Autor měřil zlepšení pomocí hodnotících kritérií rozdělených do několika skupin. Jednou ze skupin byla kritéria založená na postupu IT asset management. Autor očekával zlepšení díky změně zmíněných procesů a analytického řešení. Pro zlepšení procesů autor využil přístup Business Process Reengineering. Analytické řešení zlepšoval pomocí poupraveného postupu řešení aplikací SSBI popsaném v publikaci Self Service Business Intelligence (Pour et al., 2018). Vyhodnocením definovaných kritérií dospěl autor k závěru, že nasazením všech řešení došlo ke zlepšení fungování interních IT služeb ve firmě W.A.G. payment solutions, a.s. dle postupu IT asset management definovaném v metodice ITIL 4.

Abstract:

The author used the IT asset management practice described in ITIL 4 focused only on HW and client assets to find areas for improvement in company called W.A.G. payment solutions, a.s. He found processes for damaged HW asset by employee and repurchase HW asset by employee. The second area was the improvement of reporting solution based on data from the asset register. All the competencies associated with the mentioned areas within the IT service are located in L1. The author is employed in L1 at this company. The main objective of this thesis is to improve internal IT services in company W.A.G. payment solutions, a.s. using the IT asset management practice described in ITIL 4. The author measured the improvement by evaluation criteria divided into several groups. Criteria in one group were based on the IT asset management practice. The author expected improvement caused by changes in both processes and reporting solution. To improve both processes, the author used the Business Process Reengineering approach, and for reporting solution, he used the approach described in a publication called Self Service Business Intelligence (Pour et al., 2018). By evaluating the defined criteria, the author found that the deployment of all solutions improved internal IT services in company W.A.G. payment solutions, a.s. according to the IT asset management practice described in ITIL 4.
