Research of plant distribution in selected biocorridors in the Bílé Karpaty (White Carpathians) Mts.

Abstract:

Two windbreaks of comparable age, located in similar physiogeographical conditions in the foothills of the White Carpathians Mts., but significantly differing in width, were studied in terms of their plant composition. The influence of different windbreak widths on the spatial distribution and ecological requirements of present herbaceous species was investigated. The main objective of the study was to compare the windbreaks in terms of their ability to function as biocorridors, enabling the spread of forest herbaceous species from adjacent representative forest stands. A total of 47 phytosociological releves were recorded in biocorridors and biocenters during field surveys. The boundaries of expansion of selected forest herbaceous species showing signs of gradual dispersal from biocenters to biocorridors were also mapped. The similarity of species composition between biocenters and sampling plots in biocorridors, depending on their relative distance, was compared using non-metric multidimensional scaling (NMDS). All statistical analyses demonstrated a higher intensity of forest species dispersal in the wider biocorridor, indicating its greater functionality.

Abstract:

Dva větrolamy porovnatelného věku, lokalizované v podobných fyzickogeografických podmínkách předhůří Bílých Karpat, které se však výrazně liší svou šířkou, byly studovány z hlediska rostlinného složení. Zjišťovaný byl vliv odlišné šířky větrolamů na prostorovou distribuci a ekologické nároky přítomných bylinných druhů. Hlavním cílem práce bylo porovnat větrolamy z hlediska jejich schopnosti fungovat jako biokoridory, jež umožňují šíření lesních bylinných druhů z přilehlých reprezentativních lesních porostů. Během terénního průzkumu bylo zapsáno celkem 47 fytocenologických snímků v biokoridorech a biocentrech. Také byly zmapovány hranice rozšíření vybraných lesních bylinných druhů vykazující známky postupné disperze z biocentra do biokoridoru. Podobnost druhového složení biocenter a vzorkovacích ploch biokoridorů v závislosti na jejich relativní vzdálenosti byla porovnána s pomocí nemetrického vícerozměrného škálování (NMDS). Všechny statistické analýzy prokázaly vyšší intenzitu šíření lesních druhů širším biokoridorem, a tedy i jeho větší funkčnost.
