Nominations in Czech Political Parties: The Case of Elections to the Chamber of Deputies in 2010

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the nomination process in the Czech political parties for the elections to the Chamber of Deputies in the year 2010. The text presents its own methodological framework through which the candidate selection is examined. The partial inspiration for this framework comes from approaches of more authors, especially Magnus Blomgren and also Reuven Y. Hazan and Gideon Rahat. The second aim of the text is also to contribute to the theoretical discussion in political science about the possibilities of studying the topic of nomination process. The candidate selection process of each Czech political party was examined in a way to reveal its course, identify its key stages and levels and to determine whether the representation of defined territorial and status groups is taken into account.

Abstract:

Cieľom práce je analýza nominačných procesov v českých politických stranách, a to v súvislosti s voľbami do Poslaneckej snemovne v roku 2010. Text predstavuje vlastný metodologický rámec, prostredníctvom ktorého je k výberu kandidátov pristúpené, pričom čiastočnou inšpiráciou pre jeho utvorenie sú prístupy viacerých autorov, a to najmä Magnusa Blomgrena a dvojice Reuven Y. Hazan a Gideon Rahat. Zámerom práce je tak i snaha o prispenie do teoretickej debaty v politológii o možnostiach uchopenia nominácií ako takých. Výber kandidátov v každej skúmanej strane sa usiluje o priblíženie priebehu tohto procesu, identifikáciu jeho kľúčových etáp a úrovní a určenie, či pri zostavovaní výsledných listín dochádza k zohľadneniu zastúpenia vymedzených teritoriálnych a statusových skupín.
