Urbanization and its demographic impact in the atypical case of the city of Most

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá městem Most a jeho okolní oblastí z demografické perspektivy. První částí práce je historická rešerše moderních dějin města v období od průmyslové revoluce do konce normalizačního období socialismu. Následuje průzkum současné demografické struktury místního obyvatelstva. Další částí práce je diskuse o sociálních problémech města, jako jsou nezaměstnanost, kriminalita a jeho atypická vzdělanostní struktura. Cílem práce je posoudit současný demografický a sociální charakter města Most s výhledem na jeho budoucí vývoj.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the city of Most and its surrounding area from a demographic perspective. The first part of the thesis is a historical study of the city’s modern history from the industrial revolution until the end of the normalization period of the socialist regime. This is followed by an analysis of the current demographic structure of the local population. The next part of the thesis contains a discussion on the city’s social problems, including unemployment, crime, and its atypical educational structure. The aim of this thesis is to gauge the current demographic and social makeup of the city of Most with an outlook on its future development.
