Old and new regionalism exemplified by the Andean Community of Nations

Abstract:

Historie integračních iniciativ v Latinské Americe je velmi bohatá a různorodá. Ihned po získání nezávislosti se objevily tendence k vytvoření politické unie. 20. století přináší integrační schémata, která se různou úspěšností snaží posílit vzájemné obchodní a politické vazby v tomto regionu. Tyto snahy můžeme rozdělit do dvou období, první od začátku šedesátých let do nástupu dlužnické krize v letech osmdesátých, tzv. starý regionalismus a druhé období tzv. nového regionalismu od přelomu let osmdesátých a devadesátých. Účelem této práce je porovnat tyto dva hlavní směry regionalismu v Latinské Americe - starý a nový regionalismus - a na integračním uskupení ukázat rozdíly těchto směrů. Jako nejvhodnější příklad k porovnání byla vybrána následující regionální integrace: Andský pakt (resp. Andské společenství národů).

Abstract:

The history of regional initiatives in Latin America is very rich and varied. Immediately after declaration of independence, there was a tendency to form a political union. Integration groupings developed in the twentieth century are trying with various success rate to enhance mutual trade and political ties in the region. These efforts can be divided into two periods, the first, the old regionalism, from the early sixties to the debt crisis in the eighties and the second period, the new regionalism from the turn of the eighties and nineties. The object of this work is to draw a comparison between these regionalistic trends in Latin America - old and new regionalism - and be exampled by integration group. As the best example to compare the regionalistic trends was chosen: the Andean Pact (the Andean Community of Nations).
