Social contract theory in the sophist and its critics in Plato´s dialogues

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem této práce je ukázat, že problematika teorie společenské smlouvy, která se plně rozvinula na počátku 17. století, má své kořeny již v antickém řeckém myšlení. Záměrem je prokázat, že prvními mysliteli, kteří začali o lidské společnosti a jejím vzniku uvažovat v paradigmatu teorie společenské smlouvy, byli sofisté. Dále se tato práce zaměří na to, jak se otázka teorie společenské smlouvy u sofistů promítá do Platónových dialogů a také na to, proč Platón sofisty kritizuje.

Abstract:

The main objective of this work is to show that the issue of social contract theory, which was fully developed in the early 17th century, has its roots in ancient Greek thought. The intent is to demonstrate that the first thinker who began a human society and its occurrence to consider in the paradigm of social contract theory were Sophists. Furthermore, this work will focus on how the issue of Sophists social contract theory reflected in Plato´s dialogues, and also why Plato so criticized the Sophists.
