Extent of convergence of the regions' Visegrad group states

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá hodnocením míry konvergence států Visegrádské skupiny a jejich regionů v období 1999 - 2008. V první části práce je charakterizována Visegrádská skupina, vývoj států na základě vybraných ekonomických ukazatelů a regionální politika Evropské unie vůči zemím V4. Druhá část práce je zaměřena na hodnocení konvergence států a regionů podle vytvořeného evaluačního modelu. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována změnám ve vývoji před a po vstupu států V4 do Evropské unie. Cílem práce je ověřit hypotézy týkající se míry konvergence států V4 a jejich regionů na úrovni NUTS II vzájemně a v rámci celé EU.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with evaluation of the extent of convergence the Visegrad Group states and their regions in the period 1999 - 2008. First part presents the Visegrad Group, development of the states based on selected economic indicators and regional policy of the European Union towards V4 countries. Another part focuses on estimation of convergence among countries and among regions based on created evaluation model. Special attention is devoted to changes in development before and after joining the European Union. The target of this thesis is verification of hypotheses concerning the extent of convergence the Visegrad Group states and their regions at NUTS II level among each other and within the framework of the EU.
