Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vývojem populární hudby v Manchesteru. Hlavní důraz je kladen zejména na hudební revoluci, která se v Manchesteru udála v 70. a 80. letech. Cílem je poskytnout odpovědi na otázky týkající se příčin revoluce a důvody, kvůli kterým se vše stalo právě v Manchesteru. V souvislosti s tím se první dvě kapitoly věnují teorii pop music, stejně tak jako popisu Manchesteru v kontextu s jeho historickým a kulturním pozadím. V poslední kapitole je kapela Joy Division použita jako konkrétní příklad toho, jak město a tato éra ovlivnily umělce, jejich tvorbu a cestu ke slávě.

Abstract:

This bachelor's diploma thesis deals with the development of popular music in Manchester. The focus is placed primarily on Manchester's music revolution which happened between the 1970s and 1980s. It aims to provide answers to the questions regarding the causes of the revolution and the reasons for which it all took place in Manchester. In connection with that, the first two chapters are devoted to the theory of pop music as well as to description of Manchester in context of its historical and cultural background. In the final chapter, band Joy Division is used as a concrete example of how the city and this era influenced artists, their production and path to fame.
