Life of family with child with mental disability and the possible role of social work with this target group

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je popsat potřeby mentálně postiženého dítěte a jeho rodiny, zmapovat, jak takovéto soužití v rodině funguje a jak ovlivňuje rodinu a samotné dítě. Dále se také zaměřím na to, jakou zde hraje roli sociální práce. Teoretická část práce popisuje mentální postižení, jeho charakteristiku dále jeho druhy i příčiny. Zaměřuje se také na rodinu mentálně postiženého dítěte a závěrečná část je věnována sociální práci. V aplikační části je cílem zjistit, jak rodiče dokázali přijmout skutečnost toho, že se budou v přirozeném domácím prostředí starat o jejich mentálně postižené dítě a dále analyzovat různorodost, jak se postupně měnily vztahy mezi jednotlivými členy rodiny. Na základě třech kazuistik, které jsou realizované formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, jsou v závěru vymezena doporučení využití sociálních služeb a jsou zde aplikovány informace z teoretické části.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the needs of a mentally handicapped child and his family, to explore, how family cohabitation works and how it affects family and children themselves. Next I will focus on the role of social work here. The theoretical part describes the mental disability, its characteristics, its types and causes. It also focuses on the family of a mentally handicapped child and the final part is devoted to social work. In the application section the goal is to find out how parents have been able to accept the fact that they will care for their mentally handicapped child in their home and further analyze how heterogeneous relationships between family members have been gradually changing. Based on three case reports, which are realized in the form of semi-structured interviews, recommendations for the use of social services are defined at the end and also there are applied information from the theoretical part.
