Headquarter-subsidiary relationship in MNC

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je analýza vztahu pobočky a centrály ve vybrané nadnárodní společnosti a zjištění, do jaké míry centrála vstupuje do rozhodovacího procesu v pobočce a do jaké míry je pobočka autonomní. V teoretické části jsou uvedené definice centrály a pobočky nadnárodní společnosti, typy organizačních struktur a strategií v nadnárodních společnostech, různé typologie role pobočky a faktory ovlivňující autonomie pobočky. Praktická část se zaměřuje na zkoumání a analýzu vztahů mezi centrálou nadnárodní společnosti PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) a její českou pobočkou. V praktické části je představena zkoumaná společnost a je provedena analýza vztahu centrály a pobočky v této společnosti s aplikací teoretických východisek na základě polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s vedením společnosti a analýzy veřejně přístupných a interních dokumentů.

Abstract:

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyze the relationship between the subsidiary and the headquarter in a selected multinational company and to find out to what extent the headquarter influences the decision-making process in the subsidiary and to what extent the subsidiary is autonomous. The theoretical part contains the definitions of the headquarters and branches of a multinational company, the types of organizational structures and strategies in multinational companies, various typologies of the role of the subsidiary and the factors influencing the autonomy of the subsidiary. The practical part focuses on examining and analyzing the relationship between the headquarters of the multinational company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and its Czech branch. The practical part introduces the researched company and analyzes the relationship between headquarter and subsidiary in this company with the application of theoretical principles based on semi-structured interviews with management and analysis of publicly accessible and internal documents.
