Analysis and design of Business Intelligence for banking companies

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na podrobnou analýzu využití Business Intelligence v bankovním sektoru a navrhuje řešení pro zlepšení informačního managementu bankovních společností. V úvodní části práce jsou popsány základní pojmy související s BI jako jsou například datové sklady nebo OLAP. Dále jsou uvedeny konkrétní případy využití Bi v bankovním sektoru. Stanovení tématu a cílů bylo dosaženo na základě autorových předešlých zkušeností s Business Intelligence, jeho zájmu o téma bankovnictví a jeho vývoj v posledních letech. V poslední řadě má autor rodinné vazby s jedním z pracovníků datového oddělení jedné z bankovních společnosti účinkující na Českém trhu. Před tvorbou teoretické části práce byla provedena rešerše knižních a internetových publikací, které se zabývají tématem Business Intelligence a poté také Business Intelligence v bankovnictví. V závěrečné části práce jsou prezentovány výsledky implementace navržených řešení ve fiktivní bankovní společnosti. Tyto výsledky ukazují, jak efektivní mohou být BI řešení v bankovním sektoru a jak mohou vést ke zvýšení konkurenceschopnosti a efektivity bankovních společností. Celkově lze tuto bakalářskou práci považovat za ucelený přehled využití BI v bankovnictví, analýzu bankovní oblasti a za návrh konkrétních řešení, která by měla vést k zlepšení informačního managementu bankovních společností.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on a detailed analysis of the use of Business Intelligence in the banking sector and proposes solutions to improve the information management of banking companies. In the introductory part of the thesis, the basic concepts related to BI such as data warehouses or OLAP are described. Then, specific use cases of BI in the banking sector are presented. The determination of the topic and objectives was achieved based on the author's previous experience with Business Intelligence, his interest in the topic of banking and its development in recent years. Lastly, the author has family ties with one of the employees of the data department of one of the banking companies operating on the Czech market. Prior to the development of the theoretical part of this thesis, a search of book and internet publications dealing with the topic of business intelligence and then business intelligence in banking was carried out. The final part of the thesis presents the results of the implementation of the proposed solutions in a fictional bank company. These results show how effective BI solutions can be in the banking sector and how they can lead to increased competitiveness and efficiency of banking companies. Overall, this bachelor thesis can be considered as a comprehensive overview of the use of BI in banking, an analysis of the banking sector and a proposal of specific solutions that should lead to the improvement of information management of banking companies.
