Capital structure of a joint stock company and its determinants

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je zhodnocení kapitálové struktury zvolené akciové společnosti, a to na základě ukazatele věřitelského rizika a koeficientu samofinancování v období 2015–2019. Dílčím cílem je posouzení vztahu k majetkové struktuře, který je rozebrán pomocí bilančních pravidel financování podniku. Zejména se jedná o zlaté pravidlo financování a pari pravidlo. Dalším dílčím cílem je zjistit, zda existuje závislost mezi zadlužeností (věřitelským rizikem) a rentabilitou aktiv (ROA) ve vybraném souboru středně velkých akciových společností podnikajících v zemědělství v regionu Jižních Čech. Tato závislost je zkoumána na základě korelační a regresní analýzy pomocí softwaru MS Excel. Data, která jsou potřebná k provedení analýz, jsou získána z databáze Albertina, ze Sbírky listin Obchodního rejstříku a ze spolupráce s akciovou společností ZEVERA. Součástí práce je literární rešerše, která představuje kapitálovou strukturou dle českých účetních předpisů, základní teorie kapitálové struktury a několik empirických studií, které se zaobírají kapitálovou strukturou a faktory, které ji determinují.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to evaluate the capital structure of the selected joint stock company based on the debt ratio and the equity ratio in the period 2015–2019. A partial goal is to assess the relationship to the property structure, which is analyzed by using the balance sheet rules of financing. In particular, it is the golden rule of financing and the pari rule. Another goal is to determine whether there is linear dependencies between debt ratio and return on assets (ROA) in a selected set of medium-sized joint stock companies in agriculture in the region of South Bohemia. This dependence is analyzed on the basis of correlation and regression analysis by using MS Excel software. The data which are needed to perform the analyzes are obtained from the Albertina database, from the Collection of Documents of the Commercial Register and from the cooperation with the joint-stock company ZEVERA. Part of the bachelor’s thesis is a literature search, which presents the capital structure according to Czech accounting regulations, the basic theory of capital structure and several empirical studies that deal with capital structure and the factors that determine it.
