Eli Cohen: myth and reality

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to explain the many myths that have developed over the years on the person of Eli Cohen and make every effort to refute them critically and explain the true circumstances of each myth. The thesis begins with a description of the word "myth" and its brief history, function and use in modern times. In the second chapter, we delve into the description of Eli Cohen's life, primarily at the time of his life in Egypt and his emigration to Israel. The following chapters deal with individual myths, which over time have often appeared in every book and in many articles on the Internet. The last part of the thesis deals with the consequences of his discovery by Syrian counterintelligence.

Abstract:

Cieľom bakalárskej práce je vysvetlenie mnohých mýtov, ktoré sa behom rokov na osobu Eliho Cohena vytvorili, a s čo najväčším úsilím ich kriticky vyvrátiť a vysvetliť pravé okolnosti každého mýtu. Bakalárska práca začína opisom slovného pojmu "mýtus" s jeho krátkou históriou, funkciou a použitím v modernej dobe. V druhej kapitole prenikáme do opisu života Eliho Cohena, primárne v čase jeho života v Egypte a jeho následnej emigrácii do Izraela. Nasledujúce kapitoly práce sa zaoberajú jednotlivými mýtmi, ktoré sa postupom času začali často objavovať v každej knihe a v mnohých internetových článkoch. Posledná časť práce sa zaoberá následkami jeho odhalenia sýrskou kontrarozviedkou.
