Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce zkoumá a analyzuje překlad knihy “Hvězdná brána: Atlantida: Návrat domů” od autorek Jo Grahamové a Mellisy Scottové. Bakalářská práce je rozdělena do tří základních částí. První část je určena k představení a obeznámení s fenoménem Hvězdné brány, původními autorkami a základními teoriemi překladu. Druhou část tvoří korpus, kde je český překlad díla přímo porovnán s anglickým originálem. A třetí část samotná analýza překladu, která se soustředí na teorii ekvivalence, způsoby překladu terminologií, cizích vlastních jmen, oslovováním a nakonec jak se vypořádat s částmi knihy psanými původně v češtině. Součástí práce je i příloha s glosářem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the examination and analysis of the novel “Stargate Atlantis: Homecoming” by Jo Graham and Mellisa Scott. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part is dedicated to introduction and familiarization with the Stargate franchise, the original authors and the basic theory of translation. The second part consists of the corpus, where the Czech translation is directly compared with the English original. And the third part deals with the actual analysis of the translation, where it focuses on the theory of equivalence, ways of translating the terminology, conventions of translating foreign proper names and forms of address and, finally, how to deal with the portions of the book written originally in Czech. Also, the thesis includes a glossary as an appendix.
