Social relations and satisfaction with their quality among video game players

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vznikem sociálních vazeb mezi hráči videoher. Zajímá se převážně o podobu sociálních vztahů a jejich kvalitu. Teoretická část popisuje vznik přátelství a sociálních vazeb mezi lidmi obecně a také historii a význam videoher. Praktický výzkum je zaměřen na kvalitu a trvání sociálních vztahů hráčů videoher. Pro výzkum byla použita metoda dotazníkového šetření za využití dvou obsahově totožných jazykových variant dotazníku (český a anglický jazyk). Hlavní cílovou skupinou byli respondenti ve věku 15-35 let. Výsledky naznačují, že ne nutně každý hráč videoher během svého hraní vytváří sociální vztahy. Existuje však podstatná část hráčů, kteří ve prostředí videoher vytváří kvalitní sociální vztahy.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis examines the emergence of social bonds among video game players. It is primarily interested in the form of these relationships and their quality. The theoretical part deals with the formation of friendships and social bonds between people in general. It also describes the history and relevance of videogames. The practical research focuses directly on the quality and duration of social relationships between gamers. As a method of research, I have chosen a survey with two content-matched language versions of the questionnaire (Czech and English). The target group for the research were gamers 15-35 years old. The results suggest that not necessarily every video game player forms social relationships during their gameplay. However, there is a significant proportion of video game players who do form high-quality social relationships in video game environments.
