Abstract:
Cílem této práce je prozkoumat životy českých přistěhovalců v Americe z pohledu americké spisovatelky Willy Cather. Práce se zaměřuje na imigranty v románu My Ántonia a ve dvou povídkách, Neighbour Rosicky a Peter. Věnuje se také vztahům, které Cather s Čechy navázala a zkoumá její postoj k imigrantům a české kultuře.
Abstract:
The aim of the thesis is to examine the lives of Czech immigrants in America from the point of view of an American writer Willa Cather. The thesis focuses on immigrants in Cather's novel My Ántonia and in her short stories Neighbour Rosicky, and Peter. It also depicts relationships which the writer formed with Czechs, and examines Cather's attitude towards the immigrants and Czech culture.
