The effect of the format of the selected communicated information on its memorability

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na vliv dvou studijních materiálů - textu a videa, na výsledky studentů generace Z na Fakultě managementu Vysoké školy ekonomické v Praze a jejich preferenci těchto učebních forem. Teoretická část představuje ucelenou literární rešerši zaměřenou na charakteristiku a prefero-vané metody učení generace Z. Praktická část obsahuje experimentální vý-zkum, který využil kvantitativní metody jako dvouvýběrový Welchův t-test a jednoduchou lineární regresi. Pro sběr kvalitativních dat byl využit dotazník na základě Likertovy škály. Byly srovnány testové výsledky v závislosti na prefe-rencích studijních metod. Výzkum neprokázal statisticky významný rozdíl v úspěšnosti studentů v závislosti na studijním materiálu, ani vliv preference na testové výsledky. Studenti však v dotazníku vyjádřili pozitivní postoj k videomateriálům a ocenili by větší dostupnost přednášek online.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the impact of two learning materials - text and video - on the performance of Generation Z students at the Faculty of Management of the University of Economics in Prague and their preference for these learning forms. The theoretical part presents a comprehensive literature search focused on the characteristics and preferred learning methods of Generation Z. The practical part contains experimental research that used quantitative methods such as two-sample Welch's t-test and simple linear regression. A Likert scale questionnaire was used to collect qualitative data. Test scores were compared according to the preference of study methods. The research did not show a statistically significant difference in student achievement depending on study material, nor did it show an effect of preference on test scores. However, students expressed positive attitudes towards video materials in the questionnaire and would appreciate greater availability of online lectures.
