The aim of this thesis is to analyze the female characters in novels of Italian author Elsa Morante. The first part of the thesis presents the life and the work of the author, further the focus is on the analysis of the novels Menzogna e sortilegio, L’Isola di Arturo, La Storia and Aracoeli, especially on the psychology of the female characters.
