Abstract:

Resumé Diplomová práce se zabývá motivem těla a tělesnosti ve spekulativní fikci ženských spisovatelek, jmenovitě Angely Carterové a Margaret Atwoodové. Práce poskytuje vhled do mechanismů stavby těla a jeho interakce s ostaními elementy. Co se týče teoretických rámců použitých jako podklady pro analýzu, tato práce těží především díla Donny Harawayové a Gilles Deleuze, jejichž teorie kyborgů, těla bez orgánů a procesů přeměn nabízejí perspektivy pro vnímání těla jako neukončeného procesu, spíše než definitivní entity. V první analytické části se práce soustředí na aspekty tělesnosti u tělesnosti jedince a zároveň užívá pojmu množina pro popsání konkrétních charakteristik ztělesňování, jimž jsou otevřenost vůči restrukturalizaci a schopnost vytvářet vazby, které v důsledku mohou vést k osvobozování jdnotlivých forem tělesnosti. Předmětem druhé analytické části jsou interakce těla v sociálním kontextu. Jelikož tělesnost nelze v pravém slova smyslu vyjímat ze společenského kontextu, práce se detailně ujímá rozboru společenských sil a moci, se kterými je tělo nutně v kontinuální interakci. Použité teoretické rámce této části zahrnují například přístupy Michela Foucaulta k moci, která operuje v režimech disciplníny, či náhledy z pozice fenoenologie, které ukotvují tělo v poli percepce. Stejně tak je věnován prostor materialitě jako nástroji moci.

Abstract:

Abstract The diploma thesis deals with aspects of embodiment in four works of speculative fiction by women authors. The subject of analysis are novels by Angela Carter and Margaret Atwood, in which the recurrent topic of the body takes on new forms and new modes of operation. It bases its general approach to the embodiment on the theoretical works by Donna Haraway and Gilles Deleuze. The guiding terms in relation to this analysis of embodiment have been the notions of enabling and agency, viewed in relation to the correlated areas of analysis — namely variations in the structure of individual bodies with regard to their ability to forge new connections and the functioning of the body in the context of social forces. The discussion of the body in the first section works with the aggregate as its framing term. Finally, the authors’ treatment of the conditions that might assist in the body’s transformations is assessed, arguing that from this point of view Angela Carter’s text provides the body with more viable opportunities to restructure itself by means of linkages with other elements. Whereas the section dealing with the first two novels partially aims to see the body out of the context of its materiality, the analysis of the body in social environment “returns” to the body whose material aspects cannot be overlooked because they become the sites of investment into the body by given social forces.
