Some Features of Selected Accents of English

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o anglických akcentech vyskytujících se nejen v původně anglicky mluvících zemích, ale i v těch, kde je anglický jazyk rodným jazykem spíše minoritní společnosti. Teoretická část předkládá podstatné informace týkající se rozvoje jednotlivých akcentů v dané zemi, jejich dělení a podrobnější charakteristiku aspektů řeči. Druhá část praktická, která je založena na výzkumu autora, jehož východiskem jsou nahrávky jednotlivých akcentů, bude tyto informace poskytnuté v teoretické části tedy potvrzovat, vyvracet, nebo upravovat podle dané skutečnosti.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals not only with accents occurring in originally English-speaking countries but also with accents of countries where English is the mother tongue rather of the minority groups. The theoretical part puts forward fundamental information concerning the development of particular accents, their division and more specific characterization of the aspects of the speech of the selected countries. The empirical part is based on research which also involves the recordings of particular native speakers The aim of the research is thus to validate, refute or modify the information included in the theoretical part according to reality.
