Social Representations of the Rural of Two Groups: One Rural, Two Different Realities?

Abstract:

Diplomová práce, koncipovaná jako kvalitativní empirický výzkum, se zabývá venkovem, jehož význam není jednoznačně definovatelný a existuje mnoho různých přístupů k vymezení tohoto pojmu. Práce vychází z dichotomického přístupu Michaela Bella, který dělí přístupy k vymezení venkova na „first rural“ a „second rural“. Diplomová práce se zaměřuje na přístup „second rural“, v rámci něhož se podrobně věnuje konceptu sociálních reprezentací, který Keith Halfacree považuje jako nejvhodnější ke zkoumání venkova. Tento koncept tvoří základní teoretický rámec výzkumu v diplomové práci. Jedná se o laický diskurs, jehož prostřednictvím mohou vznikat různá pojetí venkova. Zároveň je koncept sociálních reprezentací ze sociologického hlediska přístupem konstruktivistickým, kdy realita není dána jako fakt, ale neustále konstruována. Hlavní otázkou, kterou práce prostřednictvím empirického výzkumu řeší, je konstruování venkova venkovskými obyvateli (starousedlíky) a uživateli (majiteli druhých domů - chalupáři, chataři). Práce dále představuje, v jakých oblastech se tyto dvě skupiny v rámci vnímání venkova shodují a v čem se liší, jak se tyto dvě skupiny vnímají navzájem a jak probíhá jejich vzájemné soužití a interakce. Výzkumný terén tvoří obec Malinné v Pardubickém kraji. Výsledky výzkumu jsou obohaceny citacemi z rozhovorů obou výzkumných vzorků a v závěru shrnuty.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis conceived as a qualitative empirical research deals with the rural, whose significance is not unequivocally definable and many different approaches exist to define this term. This thesis proceeds from the dichotomous approach of Michael Bell, who divides approaches defining rural into „first rural“ and „second rural“. The diploma thesis focuses on the approach „second rural“, within which it deals with the concept of the social representations, which is considered as the most suitable for researching the countryside by Keith Halfacree. This concept constitutes the basic theoretical framework of the research of this diploma thesis. It is a lay discourse, based on which various conceptions of the rural can arise. At the same time, the concept of the social representations is a constructivist approach from the sociological perspective, when the reality is not given as a fact, but is permanently constructed. The main issue which is being solved through an empirical research in this diploma thesis is constructing of the rural by the rural inhabitants (old residents) and by the users (owners of the second homes – weekenders). This thesis follows up, in which areas these two groups correspond under the terms of the rural and in which areas they differ, how this two groups perceive each other and how is their mutual coexistence and interaction going on. The research terrain constitutes of the village Malinné in the region of Pardubice. The research results are enriched with quotations from the interviews of both research samples and summarized at the end.
