Influence of the chemical industry on the environment

Abstract:

Tato práce zkoumá působení chemických látek na životní prostředí. Koncentruje se zejména na vliv nově zavedené chemické směrnice REACH a ekonomický charakter z hlediska vynaložených financí firmami pro dodržování nové chemické legislativy a neopomíjí ani neekonomické faktory, jako působení chemických látek na životní prostředí a lidstvo. Teoreticko – metodologická část se zabývá historií chemického průmyslu, ve které je možno rozpoznat, jaké následky do dnešní doby chemické látky způsobily. Zkoumá působení a dopady chemických látek na lidstvo. Zaměřuje se na názory lékařů o přijetí nového legislativního nařízení a následně pojednává o obchodu s emisními povolenkami. Aplikační část uvádí vývoj REACH a upřesňuje podmínky, jaké firmy musí dodržovat, aby dále vyráběly své chemické látky používané ve výrobě. V této části je nastíněna problematika a náročnost legislativy a je doplněna agenturou, která chemickým firmám bude pomáhat, aby unesly velkou finanční zátěž. V závěru jsem věnovala pozornost nebezpečí výskytu některých chemických látek v produktech, které běžně kupují spotřebitelé a nastínila havárie chemických společností pro prezentaci a dokreslení širšího kontextu dané problematiky.

Abstract:

The topic of this essay is the effect of chemical substances on the environment. It concentrates particularly on the impact of the recently established chemical directive REACH and its economical character from the standpoint of finances invested by the companies supervising the observance of the new chemical legislation. This piece of work also doesn´t omit the noneconomical factors such as the influnce of chemical substances on the environment and humankind. The first part deals with the history of the chemical industry, which reveals what impact have the chemical substances had so far. It examines the influence and impact of the chemical substances on people. It aims at the opinions of doctors on acceptance of the new legislative ordinance and subsequently it discusses the business with the emission permits. The second part introduces the evolution of REACH and specifies the conditions company must fulfil in order to keep producing their chemical substances used in the production. In this part there are outlined the problems and exactingness of the legislation and it´s supplemented by the agencies that will help the chemical companies to bear the big financial drain. In the conclusion I pursued the danger of occurence of some chemical substances in products that consumers commonly buy and for presentation and illustration of the broader context of the issue I mentioned some accidents of chemical companies.
