Abstract:
Galli byli kněží kultu bohyně Velké Matky (známé též jako Kybelé) a jejího partnera Attida. Hlavní a nejvýraznější praxí spojenou s galli byla kastrace jako iniciace do jejich kněžské funkce. Náznaky této praxe se objevují již v mýtech o Attidovi v různých verzích, avšak ve většině je konec stejný – dochází ke kastraci Attida (frýžská verze mýtů). The galli were the priests of the cult of the Great Mother Goddess (also known as Cybele) and her partner Attis.
