Economic theories of the non-profit sector

Abstract:

The goal of the bachelor thesis is to test the economic theories of the non-profit sector in selected organizations of the third sector in the Czech Republic. The object of the investigation are selected associations of unit owners from the Brno and Brno-venkov. The first two chapters are devoted to the characteristics of the basic areas namely the non-profit sector, non-governmental organizations and unit owner associations. On the basis of quantitative data obtained from the financial statements of individual organizations, headings for in-depth interviews were proposed. The interview findings represent qualitative data in which we focused on key characteristics of selected economic theories of non-profit sector. The in-depth case study in the selected association of unit owners confirmed supply-side theory, trust theory, and the government/market failure theory. The research of this thesis did not confirm the interdependence theory and the walfare state theory in the selected organizations.

Abstract:

Cieľom bakalárskej práce je testovať ekonomické teórie neziskového sektora vo vybraných organizáciách tretieho sektora v ČR. Objektom skúmania sú vybrané spoločenstvá vlastníkov jednotiek z oblasti Brno a Brno-venkov. Prvé dve kapitoly sa venujú charakteristike základných oblastí, čo predstavuje neziskový sektor, neštátne neziskové organizácie a spoločenstvá vlastníkov jednotiek (SVJ). Na základe kvantitatívnych dát získaných z účtovných výkazov jednotlivých organizácií boli navrhnuté okruhy k hĺbkovým rozhovorom. Výstupy z rozhovorov predstavujú kvalitatívne dáta, v ktorých sme sa zamerali na kľúčové charakteristiky vybraných ekonomických teórií neziskového sektora. Hĺbková prípadová štúdia vo vybraných SVJ potvrdila teóriu strany ponuky, teóriu dôveryhodnosti a teóriu vládnych a tržných zlyhaní. Výskum tejto práce nepotvrdil vo vybraných organizáciách teóriu vzájomnej závislosti a teóriu štátu blahobytu.
