Synthesis, structure and catalytic properties of selected palladium and platinum compounds

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá syntézou palladnatých a platnatých komplexů s monodentátními a pinzetovými fosfanovými ligandy a jejich využitím při katalýze chemických reakcí, zejména Suzukiho couplingu. Teoretická část práce pojednává o problematice fosfanových ligandů, komplexů přechodných kovů s těmito fosfany a zabývá se také katalytickými reakcemi s využitím PdII a PtII komplexů. Experimentální část popisuje přípravu monodentátních fosfanových ligandů ML se strukturou Y-C6H4-O-PPh2 (Y = 2 COOMe, 4-COOMe, H, 4-tBu), pinzetových fosfanových ligandů PL se strukturou 1,3 (O PPh2)2 5 X C6H3 (X = H, COOMe, Me) a jejich PdII a PtII komplexů ML2MCl2 a PLMCl (M = Pd, Pt). Uvedeny jsou rovněž experimentální podmínky provedených katalytických reakcí. Kapitola Výsledky a diskuze shrnuje průběh provedených syntéz a katalýz, přičemž uvedené výsledky byly získány především za pomoci 31P NMR spektroskopie a rentgenové strukturní analýzy, v případě katalytických reakcí byla využita plynová chromatografie.

Abstract:

This master thesis deals with the syntheses of monodentate and pincer phosphinite ligands, and syntheses of their palladium and platinum complexes. The prepared complexes were used as catalysts in Suzuki cross-coupling reactions. The first part of the thesis provides an insight into the field of monodentate and pincer phosphine ligands, Pd and Pt complexes and also provides a background for coupling reactions, mainly of the Suzuki-type. The second part reports on the experimental preparation of monodentate phosphine ligands ML of the Y C6H4 O PPh2 structure (Y = 2-COOMe, 4-COOMe, H, 4-tBu), pincer phosphine ligands PL of the 1,3 (O PPh2)2 5 X C6H3 (X = H, COOMe, Me) structure, and derived complexes ML2MCl2 and PLMCl (M = Pd, Pt). Experimental conditions for catalytic coupling reactions are also described. The third part summarizes the results and comments on the progress and outcomes of the syntheses and catalytic reactions. 31P NMR spectroscopy was used to monitor the progress of the syntheses and assess the purity of compounds, single crystal X-ray diffraction was used to obtain molecular structures, and gas chromatography was used to study the results of catalytic reactions.
