Cycling transportation in area of Opava city

Abstract:

Cílem práce je teoretické zhodnocení problematiky v kontextu geografie dopravy, analýza cyklistické dopravy na území města Opavy a to z hlediska institucionálního, z hlediska cyklistické infrastruktury a objemu dopravy. Úvodní část práce se zabývá cyklistickou dopravou na území města Opavy, jakožto nedílnou součástí dopravního systému. V této části jsou vymezeny základní pojmy týkající se cyklistické dopravy, včetně výhod jejího rozvoje, současný stav cyklistické dopravy a infrastruktury, jak v rámci města Opavy, tak i v celé České republice. Čtenář se zde setká s některými dokumenty a zákony, včetně národních a nadnárodních aktérů v cyklodopravě kteří přímo ovlivňují další rozvoj cyklistické infrastruktury v ČR. Druhá část práce je zaměřena na fyzickogeografickou a socioekonomickou charakteristiku řešeného území Statutárního města Opavy, déle je zde vymezen hlavní dopravní prostor, včetně důležitých dopravních společností, které poskytují služby pro cyklisty. Závěrečná část práce pojednává o aktérech cyklistické politiky ve městě, o důležitých dokumentech a projektech, které udávají směr rozvoje cyklodopravy. V závěrečné části se také nachází přehled investic do cyklistické infrastruktury a přehled jednotlivých typů cyklostezek na území města. Nedílnou součástí této práce je rozhovor s cyklokoordinátorem města Opavy a terénní šetření, jehož předmětem bylo sčítání cyklistů ve vybraných lokalitách.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is theoretical evaluation in the context of transport geography, analysis of cycling in the city of Opava in terms of cycling infrastructure and volume of traffic. The introductory part of the work deals with the bicycle transport on the territory of the town of Opava, as an integral part of the transport system. In this section are defined on the basic concepts regarding bicycle traffic, including the benefits of its development, the current state of bicycle transport and infrastructure, both within the city of Opava, and in the whole Czech Republic. The reader here meets with some of the documents and the laws, including the national and supranational participants in bicycle transport who directly affect the further development of the cycling infrastructure in the Czech Republic. The second part of the work is focused on physical-geographical and socio-economic characteristics of the territory of the city of Opava, the longer there is defined the main transport area, including important transport companies that provide services for cyclists. The final part of the work deals with the participants of the cycling policy in the city, about important documents and projects, which indicate the direction of the development of bicycle transport. In the final section is an overview of the investment in cycle infrastructure and an overview of the different types of bicycle paths in the city. An integral part of this work is the interview with the cycle coordinator of the town of Opava and the legwork, whose subject was the addition of cyclists in selected locations.
