Anaximander's fragment B1

Abstract:

Nejstarší dochovaný filozofický text, Anaximandrův zlomek B1, bývá interpretován dvěma způsoby. První typ interpretace má za to, že zlomek B1 hovoří o vzniku a zániku světa, tj. o současném vzniku a společném zániku protikladů (z nichž se svět skládá). Druhý typ interpretace zase má za to, že zlomek hovoří o přírodních cyklech, tj. o střídavém vzniku a zániku protikladů (např. o střídání dne a noci, léta a zimy apod.). První typ interpretace bývá dnes téměř všeobecně chápán jako překonaný interpretací druhou (novější). Tato práce si však vytkla za cíl prokázat, že druhý typ interpretace je nesprávný a platí typ první. Práce vychází z rozsáhlého srovnávání originálních řeckých textů (zejména textů doxografických a textů relativních Anaximandrových současníků, z 8. – 5. stol. př. n. l.) a ukazuje prostřednictvím řady nových argumentů, že první typ interpretace mnohem lépe odpovídá dostupným faktům.

Abstract:

The oldest extant philosophical text – Anaximander’s fragment B1 – is usually interpreted in two ways. The first type of interpretation supposes that the fragment B1 relates to generation and destruction of the world, i.e. to the synchronous generation and joint destruction of the opposites (of which the world is consisted). The second type of interpretation supposes that the fragment relates to natural cycles, i.e. to the interchangeable generation and destruction of the opposites (e.g. to the interchange of day and night, summer and winter and others). Nowadays, the first type of interpretation is usually taken as been refutated by the second (newer) one. However, this thesis aims at proving that the second type of interpretation is incorrect and the first type is valid. The thesis is based on large comparising of original Greek texts (especially of the doxographic texts and the texts of Anaximander's wide contemporaries, from 8th to 5th cent. B.C.), and demonstrates by a lot of new arguments that the first type of interpretation agrees much better with the getatable facts.
