The Issue of the Status of Women in the Labour Market

Abstract:

Problematika postavení žen na trhu práce v České republice se prosazuje v praktické politice i mezi aktuální témata vědeckého zájmu. Ženy představují zdroj pracovní síly hlavně pro sekundární trh práce, který je charakteristický především nízkým platovým ohodnocením a problematickou možností kvalifikačního růstu. Na primárním trhu se ženy uplatňují s obtížemi. Rovnost je základní podmínkou demokracie, nerovnosti omezují možnosti daných sociálních skupin podílet se na veřejném rozhodování; systematické vylučování určitých skupin způsobuje celkové vychýlení společnosti, jehož důsledkem může být i ohrožení ekonomického růstu a konkurenceschopnosti. Přes legislativní opatření deklarovaná rovnoprávnost bohužel neodpovídá realitě. Mezi hlavní aspekty ovlivňující úspěšnost na pracovním trhu patří přetrvávající genderové stereotypy, age-management, úroveň dosaženého vzdělání, rozdílné platové podmínky na srovnatelných pozicích, obtížné dosažení pozic ve vrcholovém managementu, harmonizace rodinné a profesní role ženy.

Abstract:

The issue of the status of women in the labor market in the Czech Republic is gaining in practical politics and among the topics of scientific interest. Women represent a source of manpower mainly for secondary labor market, which is characterized mainly by low wages and uncertain to train. On the primary market women are employed with difficulty. Equality is a fundamental condition of democracy, inequality limits the possibilities of the social groups to participate in public decision-making; the systematic exclusion of groups causes total misalignment society, which can cause a threat to economic growth and competitiveness. Despite legislative measures declared equality unfortunately does not reflect reality. The main factors influencing the success in the labor market are as follows: the persistent gender stereotypes, age-management, education level, the difference in salary conditions comparable positions, difficult to achieve positions in top management, harmonization of family and professional roles women.
